Music

Music is very important to me. I've been playing music for about 12 Years now in one form or another. I've taken on quite a few instruments - but the one I use the most is the keyboard. I also play guitar, bass, didgeridoo, percussion. I have an 8 track digital studio at home and I enjoy just sitting down and seeing what I can come up with.

I'm into lots of different music, I love Gothic, Industrial, Darkwave, Synthpop, Ambient, and Experimental music as well as some Drum 'n Bass. Following are some links to a few cool music related sites. Right now they're mostly experimental type bands in the World Serpent vein, but I may be adding more in the near future.

Sirvix I was in a band named Sirvix a while back - we were an Ambient / Industrial / Experimental / Noise band. We had a CD called Her Dead Love out>. Things seemed to be going okay for us -- we were signed to a pretty good label (Decibel's subsidiary Experimental label: Feedback) and we were just about to release our second CD, entitled Autumn's Cascade. The music on it was MUCH better. It would have appealed to quite a few more people then Her Dead Love did I think... But things fell apart - I was supposed to meet with the guy who ran the label, but he never showed up - and we hadn't heard from him since (they apparently went out of business)... And then things within the band got kind of messy... And we finally just stopped getting together.

Nurse With Wound Nurse With Wound are probably my favorite band in the world. Their music is so strange and unlike just about any other band you will have ever heard. The music ranges from Atonal guitar noise, completely beautiful ambient pieces, quirky arrangements of various snippets of sounds, to trance inducing drumbeats intertwined with sophisticated melodies. I like them so much that I had their sunflower girl logo tattooed on my arm. Check out the Nurse With Wound Homepage.

Coil Coil runs around in the same circles as Nurse With Wound. John Balance of Coil has been known to collaborate with Stephen Stapleton of Nurse With Wound on some of his albums. As far as Coil goes, Coil's style has changed pretty much from album to album. But so far there hasn't been a single album that I havent liked. The albums range from Ambient, Beautifully Structured soundscapes, technoish, to noisey. Check out the Coil Home Page.

Einsturzende Neubauten When I think of the traditional meaning of Industrial music I think of bands like Throbbing Gristle, SPK, and Einsturzende Neubauten. Neubauten is my favorite from that era. Their music blends destruction and beauty. Utilizing non traditional instruments such as Jack Hammers, Flames, and Various pieces of metal for percussion, Neubauten created a unique sound that has been imitated by industrial bands since. World Serpent Distribution the now defunct World Serpent label was the distributor for some of the coolest bands around, including Nurse With Wound, Coil, Current 93, Death in June, and Boyd Rice to mention a few.
